Tongji gives priority to the disciples-designing in the area of faculty-building. By introducing capable professors and cultivating new professors, we spare no effort on building up an eligible, devoted, well-organized and powerful teaching team with great working integrity. So far we have worked out a successful teacher-cultivating system, a reasonable and promising mechanism, which aims to effectively locate and employ excellent teachers.
From statistics by the end of 2005, we have a professor team of 2559, that is, 6 of China Academy of Science, 6 of China Academy of Engineering, 551 professors (among them 16 are Yangtze Scholars), 751 vice professors, 1028 lecturers, 107 professor assistants. The number of teachers under 45-year-old is 1835, among them 650 holding doctoral degree. The teacher-student ratio has reached to 1:14 in Tongji. |
