| Established in 1958, the Research Institute
of Engineering Structures, Tongji University, is a relatively independent
research institution and composed of four divisions: Engineering Structure
Division (ES Division),
Structural Laborotary for Earthquake Resistance (also called as Shaking
Table Test Lab), Structural Static Test Laborotary (SST
Lab), and Building Reinforcement and Reconstruction Division (BRR
Division). The Structural Laborotary for Earthquake Resistance
(SLER Lab) also serves as a part of the
State Key Lab for Disaster Reduction in Civil Engineering.
The Institute has a staff team of about 50 members in total, including
7 professors, 10 associate professors, 5 senior engineers, 15 assitant
professors and engineers, and some ten laborotary technicans. The research
interests of the institute are mainly focused on the theoretical analysis
and experimental investigation of buildings and other engineering structures.
