On the afternoon and evening of December 4th, In Pursuit of Excellence, reports of 2018 by Tongji peer students which was organized by the Student Affairs Office and Postgraduate Student Affairs Office of the Party Committee, was hosted by the College of Arts and Media in the auditorium at the Siping Campus. XU jianping, the deputy secretary of the Party Committee and people from both offices and schools and colleges attended the reports. Eight students made vivid presentations to 4500 freshmen by sharing their experience in study, work and life. More than thirty rounds of waves of applause stroke the auditorium that was lit with lively atmosphere.
Since this September, the Student Affairs Office and Postgraduate Student Affairs Office have been busy selecting students who distinguish themselves in study, research, social service, hard work, technical innovation and sports to form an excellent student group as representatives of all-around development of moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetics and work. Eventually eight students stood out of a long list. They were QU xinyu, the head of a student team for the core technology used in the indoor navigation system in China International Import Exposition and the gold-prize winner of “Internet plus” innovation and entrepreneurship competition; ZHENG Jueupeng, a retired student from the army who took part in the rescue work of Eastern Star and combated with the flood; HE rui, the No. 1 student in urban planning who believed in “working a little harder” only to get pass in exams at the beginning of his university life; DAI haibin, the leader of the University Rowing Team who broke the silence of dawn with his oars early in the morning; Wang jiaoling, a tiny girl with six abs and the leader of the university rock-climbing team; ZHANG yaoqi, the leader of postgraduate volunteer teaching group and of the Dream Classrooms who kept asking himself “how to do better”; GUO ziyu, who devoted herself to the heritage of rural culture and worked on Beautiful Nostalgia project; JIA tongyao, the leading actress of Jiangjie who absorbed energy from her acting. They drew on their unique experience to showcase that university life could be amazingly charming in different ways, which helped planting seeds of hope and power in every freshmen’s heart.
The different ways of how the eight outstanding students fight and challenge themselves touched everyone and earned roaring rounds of bravo.
Reports of this kind have been organized for eight successive years as a brand of peer education at Tongji University.
