"AI-World and Future", an academic exchange winter program was organized by Undergraduate School and Freshman College, Tongji University. This program was the first overseas exchange program initiated by Freshman College to build a general education platform and broaden student international view, and to help students learn frontier knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) and big data. A total of 32 students joined the program.
The program which included class lectures, enterprise visits, university exchanges and program assessment on the theme of AI and big data, was held at San José State University, US. Students visited Google, Apple, Intel and other Silicon Valley companies, listened to a career plan lecture at Yahoo , visited the robotics and engineering laboratories of San José State University, communicated with students from Stanford and UC Berkeley, and did AI project construction independently. The program enabled them to expose to the learning and working environment of world prestigious universities and first-class enterprises so that they understood more of the wide applications of AI and big data in modern society, which had important impact for their future plan and development.
Freshman College of Tongji University is committed to exploring an educational model of cultivating talents through strengthening general education. The overseas academic exchange program was one of the important ways to achieve its goal under this model.
