19 National Key R&D Programs Led by Tongji University Brings Tongji Fourth Ranking Among National Colleges and Universities

The list of National Key R&D Programs of 2018 has been released gradually recently. Up to now, 19 programs led by Tongji University , i.e. programs are based in Tongji University, and chief scientists of the programs are teachers from Tongji University. have been approved for 2018, which gave Tongji the fourth ranking in both the number of approved programs and the amount of special funds ed among all national colleges and universities. Currently, the fifth-batch programs for 2018 are still under review. In addition, one program led by Tongji teachers, application of which was submitted by a company but as been approved. Tongji Teachers undertook 67 key specialized programs as leaders of programs in 2018.

The 19 programs and 67 key specialized programs fell under 21 key special programs of the National Key R&D Scheme. The chief scientists and project leaders were from 18 organizations of Tongji University including College of Environmental Science and Engineering, College of Surveying and Geo-informatics, College of Electronic and Information Engineering, School of Life Science and Technology, School of Automotive Studies, College of Architecture and Urban Planning, College of Transportation Engineering, School of Ocean and Earth Science, Institute of New Rural Development, New Energy Automotive Engineering Center, School of Medicine, Shanghai East Hospital, Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital, Tongji Hospital, College of Civil Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Materials Science and Engineering, and the Affiliated Stomatology Hospital of Tongji University.
