Together we stand firm through thick and thin. Recently, an activity on Tell my Motherland and a large-scale original stage play Together on the Same Boat were on show at the auditorium at the Siping campus, Tongji University. Mr. XU Jianping, deputy secretary general of the University Party Committee and heads from the Student Affairs office, the Youth League Committee, the Art Center, College of the Freshmen and College of Art and Media attended the activity along with nearly 5,000 teachers and students to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China. Teachers and students waved the national flags of different sizes and held banners of such words to the motherland like “Young people dedicated to the motherland”, " I love you, China". QIAN zheng, director of the stage play "Together on the same boat", made a speech to Tongji students on “A small self resolved into a big one, and youth dedicated to the motherland" by taking as an example his five-year creation and rehearsal experience of the stage play. He told the students about the story of centennial Tongji which "grew up with the motherland and helped the society with science and technology". He called on Tongji teachers and students to integrate "their small selves" into "the big one" and dedicate their youth to the motherland.

"Together on the Same Boat" was written and directed by our teachers and performed by over 100 students. With an artistic approach, it tells the story of Tongji people in the over a-hundred year history of the university, paying tributes to the aspirations of Tongji people in their great efforts to help the society and build a better future from generation to generation.
