Tongji will unite Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation and Volkswagen to carry out the R&D of the fourth generationChaoyueIV.
In line with Shanghai fuel cell automotive program, ten, one hundred, and one thousand fuel cell automobiles will be manufactured in 2005, 2007, and 2010 respectively. The sample motorcade composed of ten fuel cell autos were started recently from Jiading Campus.
Prof. Yu Zhuoping, dean of College of Automotive Engineering, said that apart from the development ofChaoyueIV, we should also make preparations for the industrialization of fuel cell autos and to meet EXPO’s demands. After the installation of inserted platform technology, fuel cell autos will carry the shell of Santana 3000, MPV and Eastar. The industrialization of fuel cell autos is becoming much closer by the development of the fourth-generationChaoyue IV. Supporting projects of fuel cell autos are also possible to become an increasing point for Shanghai automotive industry
