Tongji Set Up Sino-France Doctor’s College

To reinforce talents’ development and improve strategic cooperation of Sino-France education, collegiate unions of both countries established Sino-France Doctor’s College. Headed by Zhang Shengxin, vice minister of the Ministry of Education, Chinese delegation was invited by French Ministry of Education to fly to Paris and attend the opening ceremony of Sino-France Doctor’s College on March 23rd. 34 delegates from French union also attended the grand opening. As one of the 26 union members in China, Tongji president Wan Gang was selected as the Chinese union president during the meeting on March 21st.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao signed a contract about the establishment of the Doctor’s college with French government on December 6th, 2005. As the development base sponsored by China’s Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the college is composed of two unions including fifty universities in China and France. The Chinese union includes 26 famous universities such as Beijing University and Tongji University. The recruited doctors will receive education in China for one year and be sent to France next year with governments’ scholarship. Students will get two diplomas from this program.
