Head by Gerald Tremblay, mayor of Montreal, Canada, the Canadian delegation composed of ten people paid a visit to Tongji on April 13th. Tongji president Wan Gang, director of Yangpu Distric Jiang Zhuoqing, deputy director Xu Quan, held talks with the delegation. President Wan introduced Tongji’s historical development, disciplinary features, and exterior communication. Later, Wu Zhiqiang, dean of College of Architecture and Urban Planning (CAUP), introduced the development and communication. Mayor Tremblay extended his wish to have a comprehensive cooperation in urban development and planning between the two.

After the talks, Mayor Tremblay delivered a speech titled “Montreal-Intellectual City”, encouraging college students to study hard, pay attention to social development and serve the people in the future. Prof. John Zacharias from Concordia University and Dr. Clarence Epstein, director of President Affairs Office, also made speeches on ‘Future Perspective of City Development’ and ‘Relationship Between City and College’.
