On the morning of May 8th, president Wan Gang met with Ms. Valérie Terranova, French president consultant and envoy of President Chirac, Mr. Jean-Marin Schuh, French general consul in Shanghai, Mr. Marc lamy, consul of education. President assistant Dong Qi and Prof. Wu Zhiqiang, dean of College of Architecture and Urban Planning (CAUP) attended the meeting.
President Wan introduced Tongji’s communication with France, the project of China-France Center, Tongji’s participation in Shanghai Expo 2010. He also asked Ms. Terranova to convey his invitation for President Chirac’s visit to Tongji again in the autumn this year. Ms. Terranova was deeply impressed by President Chirac’s tour in Tongji in October 2004. It was the first time for President Chirac to lay a foundation for a building. She spoke highly of the quality and achievements of Tongji’s communication and cooperation with France, and invited President Wan Gang to have a meeting with principals of Department of University Affairs in French President Office during Wan’s visit to France in June this year.
After the meeting, Ms. Valérie Terranova went to CAUP and listened to Prof. Wu’s introduction about CAUP’s development and the plan of Expo 2010. As the general planner of Shanghai Expo 2010, Prof. Wu answered the questioning from French convoy and general consul.
Ms. Valérie Terranova’s visit is to have an inspection of Shanghai and prepare for France’s participation of Shanghai Expo 2010.
