Jointly organized by German Academic Center, Goethe Institute or General Consulate of Germany in Shanghai, the first German-Chinese, Chinese-German Literature Translation Contest appraised the finial winners recently.
The contest lasted about two and a half month. After competitive selection and appraisal by experts from Germany and China for nearly one month, the top three winners for German-Chinese translation are Liu Qinhui from Qingdao, Dong Qinwen from Shanghai and Wen Shizhe from Beijing; the top three winners for Chinese-German translation are Jahannes Peter Fielderling from München, Marc Hermann from Bonn, and Thilo Diefenbach from Koeln. There are also another 17 winners.
The contest received about 220 translations. The translators are from almost all Departments of German Language in China and all Departments of Chinese Language in Germany. Workers of German and English in other areas are also active in this contest. It reflects the enthusiasm of Chinese and German youth toward literature translation. Organizers decided to hold an awarding ceremony in Tongji on June 2. It will invite Yu Hua, famous Chinese writer, and Christian Kracht, German young writer from Switzerland, to reader their own works and hold a cross-cultural dialogue.
