Headed by Mr. Roland Koch, governor of Hessen, a German delegation paid a visit to Tongji on May 12th. Zhou Jialun, director of School Affairs Committee, met the delegation in CDHK building. Zhou introduced Tognji’s history and development, the tradition of cooperating with Hessen and enterprises.
Later, Li Guoqiang, standing vice dean of German Academic Center, Feng Xiao, dean of China-Deutsch Engineering College, and Mr. Zimmer, vice dean of China-Deutsch College, made introductions to Tongji’s efforts in German language training, communications with Germany, and relative joint projects. Mr. Koch appreciated Tongji’s welcome and showed that the state government will further improve understanding and communication between the youth of the two countries. Besides, president of Goethe College in Frankfurt showed great interest in Tongji’s Abroad Training Center project, especially exchange of post graduates. He hoped that there would be more excellent students to study in the other university.
After the talk, Mr. Koch was invited to deliver a lecture on “Europe and China from Germany’s Perspective”.
