On the evening of May 19th, Tongji witnessed its 99thanniversary and held the Graduation Party 2006 in the football court in main campus. Zhou Jialun, general secretary of the Party Committee, President Wan Gang, Standing Vice President Li Yongsheng, Zhou Zuyi, Zhu Shaozhong, Lu Mingxun, deputy secretaries of the Party Committee, Vice President Li Ziaolong, Zhao Jianfu, attended the party. Attendants also included director of Yangpu District, deputy director of Jiading District, president of Siemens Shanghai.
The party started with the martial art performed by children from Tongji Kindergarten. Afterwards, the President Award was handed over to model teachers and groups, who made special contributions to Tongji's development.
The party was composed of four themes: time flies, memorable days, nostalgia of greenery to the root, mind flow of the 100thanniversary. Performers expressed their reluctance to college life, appreciation to Mother College, and expectations to the 100thanniversary through songs, dancing, elocnte. Besides, foreign students also staged onto the platform and showed their performance.
At the end of the party, Mr. Zhou Jialun and Mr. Wan Gang stepped onto the platform and launched the Counting-down Clock, which says 366 days left for the 100thAnniversary. Skyrocket soared into the night sky accompanied by "A date with the future", signifying Tongji's bright history and future.
