Accompanied by Mr. Jean-Marin SCHUH, French general consul in Shanghai, and Mr. Marc Lamy, education consul, a 26-person French delegation headed by Mr. Dominique Perben, French Minister of Transport, Infrastructure, Tourism and the Sea, paid a visit to Tongji on May 27th.
President Wan Gang held a brief meeting with Mr. Perben, introducing general information of Tongji’s cooperation with France, the project of China-France Center, as well as studies in energy, automobile and sustainable development. Mr. Perben greatly appreciated Tongji’s efforts in collaborating with France, especially the ten-year-long cooperation with ENPC. As the Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure, Tourism and the Sea is also in charge of urban planning and territory management, Mr. Perben hopes to refer to Tongji’s experience and technololgy in urban planning and reinforce cooperation in this field. Mr. Perben also mentioned French President Chirac’s attention on China-France Center and College of China-France Engineers, and asked about the R&D of fuel cell automobiles.
After the meeting, Mr. Dominique Perben made a speech for Tongji teachers and students, and answered questions about transportation and French high speed train. At last, Mr. Perben visited the China-France College Building accompanied by Tongji president Wan Gang.
