Sino-US Sustainable Development Seminar Held in Tongji

Sponsored by Sino-US Sustainable Development Center, Tongji University, China Housing Industry Association, the Sino-US International Seminar of Sustainable Development for towns was held in Yifu Building of Tongji recently. Tongji Vice President Zhao Jianfu, deputy director of China 21stCentury Agenda Management Center Huang Jin, delivered welcoming speech separately.

During the meeting, Tongji Vice President Chen Xiaolong made a report on “Tongji Constructing Energy-saving Campus”, introducing the reconstruction of Xuri Building, Teaching Builidng, the Swimming Pool, the auditorium, Sino-France Center, especially theories and effects of geothermal heat pump system, end radiating air-conditioner system, independent ventilation system, ice-cooling system, courtyard ventilation system. Mary Andringa, president of Vermeer Manufacturing Company, introduced Vermeer’s contribution to sustainable development in manufacturing industry and proposed suggestions to constructing green land in Chinese cities. Lu Jian, Vice President of Shanghai Industrial Investment Holding Co., Ltd (SIIC)-Shanghai Real Estate Company, proposed the influence on urban planning exerted by cultural differences of domestic and foreign designers. Representatives from both parts agreed to cooperate in more areas and explore new space for sustainable development.
