Invited by Michelin Group Corporation and the World Hydrogen Energy Conference Committee, Tongji President Wan Gang paid a visit to France recently and attended the 8thChallenge Bibendum for Clean Energy Automobile held in Paris as well as the opening ceremony of World Hydrogen Energy Conference in Lyon.
During the Challenge Bibendum from June 8thto 12th, President Wan attended the technical round-table conference focusing on energy, road safety and city mobility. He also made reports on “China’s R&D Model of Electrical Automobile ” and “Viewpoints and Actions of the Energy Transfer for Automobiles” on the part of Chinese experts and China Ministry of Science and Technology. Besides, Wan also watched technical test ofChaoyue IIIfuel cell automobile.
During the World Hydrogen Energy Conference on June 13th, Wan made a report on “China’s R&D Model of Hydrogen Automobile” on the part of China Ministry of Science and Technology.
During his visit, President Wan met Dominique Perben, French Minister for Transportation, Equipment, Tourism and Ocean, Michel Rollier, the new President of Michelin Group, Pierre Maier, President of French Electrical Automobile Leading Teams, Serge Dassault, President of Dassault Group Corporation, Serge Godard, Mayor of Clermont-Ferrand, Zhao Jinjun, Chinese Ambassador in France, Zhang Zhiqing, consultant of Department of Science and Technology of Chinese Embassy in France.
Started from 1999, Challenge Bibendum is an annual event aiming at exhibiting achievements of automobile industry in economy, environment protection, road transportation. After Los Angles, Heidelberg, San Francisco, Shanghai, Kyoto, the 8thChallenge Bibendum is held in Paris from June 8thto 12th. Tongji has sponsored the 6thChallenge Bibendum held in Shanghai in October 2004.
