In early July, Tongji Vice President Li Yongsheng arrived in England and attended the International Forum 2006: Global Education Universities in the 21st Century, which is sponsored by Academic Consortium (AC21), Warwick University, Nagoya University, British Middle-West Development Bureau.
The conference is divided into three parallel forums: Leadership and Management, Global Students’ Influence, Innovation and Enterprises. The Leadership and Management Forum, which Mr. Li attended, covers challenges of high education leadership, academic leadership in transition, strategic management in uncertain era, competition, cooperation and merger, difference of high education organization, brand globalization, initiation and responsibility, popularization, balanced high education globalization and scientific research, university in complicated era, constructing sustainable development, fiscal issues. President Li also attended the AC21 Membership Conference, which concluded all events like World Students’ Forum in Japan, City Sustainable Transportation in aTongji.
After the forum, President Li paid a visit to University of Bath, where he held a warm talk with Prof. Alan Day, dean of College of Engineering and Designing, and met Mr. Michael Dickson, President of British Institution of Structure Engineer (IStructE), Mr. Keith Eaton, executive secretary of IstructE.
