During the final round of "Genee International Ballet Competition 2006", Sun Jiayong from Tongji won the third prize.
51 young candidates from eleven countries and districts attended the contest in Hong Kong. During the final competition on September 3rd, Sun Jiayong from Tongji Film School won the third prize and became the only winner from mainland China.
The Genee International Ballet Competition was named after Dame Adeline Genee, the first dean and founder of Royal Academy of Dancing (RAD). First held in 1931, the contest stepped out of London in 2002 and was held in Sydney Opera House. It is the first time for the contest to be held in Hong Kong in memory of the 50thanniversary of RAD in Hong Kong.
Genee International Ballet Competition enjoys a good reputation for its strict appraising. Attendants are all young ballet dancers, aging from 14 to 19. it is a good opportunity for them to communicate with and learn from world famous ballet teachers, as well as accumulate international competition experience.
