On the afternoon of September 18th, Tongji held the awarding ceremony in College of Overseas Training (COT), conferring Prof. Dr, Ulrich Steinmueller, former vice president of Technical University of Berlin (TUB), the title of Tongji Honorable Professor. The ceremony was hosted by Li Guoqiang, dean of COT. Yu Xuemei, deputy dean of COT, read Prof. Steinmueller’s resume. Zhou Jialun, director of School Affairs Committee, conferred the certificate to Prof. Steinmueller, and delivered the congratulation speech. After the ceremony, Prof. Steinmueller made a lecture on ‘Perspective and Challenge for Foreign Language Teaching’.
Once appointed as the first vice president of TUB, Prof. Steinmueller is famous German expert on teaching methodology and cultural communication. He developed numerous high-level Chinese doctors, who are playing important roles in foreign language teaching in China. Prof. Steinmueller is very friendly to Tongji, paying several visits and delivering a lot of speeches. He still keeps close contact and cooperation with several departments of Tongji.
