On September 18th, President Wan Gang met wit Dr. Hertig, director of Swiss Science Center (SSC) and deputy Swiss general consul in Shanghai. President Dong Qi attended the meeting. President Wan introduced Tongji's history, disciplinary setting and development perspectives, especially the inauguration ceremony of China-Italy College on September 16th. President Wan pointed out that although Tongji has a long history of communication with ETH, it is still not enough for the two parts' communication. He hopes to expand cooperation and speed up academic communication. Dr. Hertig also wishes for more Chinese students to study in Swiss.
During his stay in Tongji, Dr. Hertig visited College of Architecture and Urban Planning, national key laboratories of College of Ocean and Earth Scienceand College of Civil Engineering, as well as the Test Center of Material Features of College of Material Science.
