On September 25th, the seminar of compilation of Deutsch-Chinese Technical Lexicon was held in Yufu Building. President Wan Gang attended the meeting and made a speech.
As President Wan Gang pointed out, as an important "window" for a research university and communication with German, Tongji is the most suitable unit to compile such a dictionary. It can be rendered as a report to society, an exhibition of its own strength, as well as an achievement during the construction of a comprehensive university. The publication of this dictionary will exert positive influence to the technical development and economic construction of our country. In the mean time the process of compilation is meaningful to Tongji’s disciplinary construction.
During the meeting, Tongji Press reported the work of compilation. Owners from Tongji-Deutsch College, College of Electronic and Information Engineering introduced the real situation and related experience of compilation.
It said that the compilation has entered into appraisal, every unit in self-appraisal. The cross-appraisal will be finished in the end of October and compilation of new terms is expected to be finished at the end of November. It is to be published in April next year.
It is said that the Deutsch-Chinese Technical Lexicon is a large-scale dictionary covering over 120 disciplines with over 280,000 terms. As one of Tongji's 100thAnniversary, the compilation will be all completed by Tongji staff. Deutsch-Chinese Technical Lexicon is listed as "11th Five-Year Plan" national key book publication project by China General Administration of Press and Publication.
