Co-established by Tongji, Shanghai Aerospace Energy Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Shunhua New Energy System Co., Ltd., the first hydrogen station-Anting Hydrogen Station is set up in Jiadidng International Automobile City. Tongji President Wan Gang, Shou Ziqi, deputy director of Science & Technology Department of Shanghai, Bei Xiaoxi, deputy director of Jiading District, and Mr. Duncan Macleod, vice president of Shell Hydrogen, attended the launching ceremony.
As part of the national 863 Project “High Pressure Hydrogen Station for Fuel Cell Automobile and the R&D of Hydrogen Supply Technology ”, Antinig Hydrogen Station attracts Shell Hydrogen as technology consultant, world famous gas company BOC Group as provider of engineering technology service. Set up beside the Exhibition Center of Shanghai International Automobile City, the station is to be finished at the end of 2006 and will be able to provide hydrogen supplying service for three buses and twenty cars in one day.
Anting Hydrogen Station is an important step in improving the commercialization of fuel cell automobile in China. There will be ten such kind of autos put into commercial operation in 2006 and plans to add to 1000 till 2010, including buses that are funded by Global Environment Fund through UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) . It is said that there will be few differences in outlook between hydrogen station and usual gas station, but rather innovations in details, such as hydrogen storage, compression and safety.
After the ceremony, visitors had a try of theChaoyue IIIdeveloped Tongji itself.
