President of Hanover University Visit Tongji

President, vice president, director of Foreign Affairs Office, and professor from Department of Mechanic Engineering, of German Hanover University paid a visit to Tongji on October 8th and 9th. Zhou Jialun, director of School Affairs Committee, Tongji President Wan Gang met with the visitors. Mr. Zhou Jialun and Prof. Barker signed "Memorandum of Understanding between Tongji University (China) and Hanover Leibniz University (Germany)."

On the morning of 8th, Tongji Vice President Chen Xiaolong met German visitors, introducing Tongji's joint programs with European countries and reviewing the joint postgraduate development project between Tongji and Department of Mechanic Engineering of Hanover University since 2000. As the new president of Hanover, Prof. Barker hopes to extend cooperative field and include College of Electronic and Information Engineering, and College of Civil Engineering into the original agreement frame, as we as to co-develop doctor’s program.

After the talk, President Barker and President CHKunster visited College of Civil Engineering. On the part of College of Civil Engineering of Hanover, Prof. CHKunster discussed with Tongji counterpart about the possibility of the joint program for postgraduate and doctor development. The two parts reached agreement in the final.

On the afternoon, the German delegates drove to Jiading Campus and had a try of theChaoyue III, the new energy automobile, and visited the engineering center. Talks were held later about the feasibility and details of the above joint programs
