It is the 80thbirthday of Prof. Horst Sund, the German project specialist of CDHK, on October 16th. To appreciate Prof. Sund’s endeavor to maintain China-Germany friendship and improve cooperation between the two country in economics, politics and culture, Tongji held a celebrating evening banquet.
Wu Qidi, vice minister of Education, delivered congratulation telegraph, appreciating Prof. Sund’s diligent work and stating that the growth of CDHK integrates Prof. Sund’s painstaking effort. Tongji President Wan Gang appreciated Prof. Sund’s contribution to the construction of CDHK. Dr. Klaus von Trotha, former German minister of science and arts of the state of Baden-Württemberg, and head of the German team of CDHK project appraisal committee, Dr. Wolfgang Röhr, German general consul in Shanghai, and Dr. Thomas Schmidt-Dörr, director of Beijing Office of German Academic Communication center, delivered speeches separately. Attendees also include Zhu Shaozhong, deputy general secretary of Party Committee, Dong Qi, Tongji president assistant, Wen Shilie, former President of Shanghai Jiaotong University,(SJTU), Shen Huanye, vice president of SJTU, Mr, Gerhard Mairhofer, general manager of Shanghai Krupp Stainless Co. Ltd.
Prof. Sund thanked Tongji’s high appraisal to him and stated that he would further friendship between China and Germany as before, and make more contributions to the educational cooperation between the two countries. To show respect of Prof, Sun, CDHK renamed the meeting hall into Sund Hall.
