Belgian Minister Visits Tongji

Secretary Zhou Jialun, head of School Affairs Committee of Tongji received Ms. Marie-Dominique Simonet——minister of Tertiary Education, Science & Research and International Relationship for Belgian French-speaking community and her retinue of 27. Vice president Zhou Zuyi and representatives from College of Economics and Management, College of Architecture and Urban Planning, School of Ocean and Earth Science attended the meeting.

Secretary Zhou gave a brief introduction of Tongji and Vice President Zhou introduced the cooperative processes of Tongji with French and Belgian institutes. Minister Simonet extended gratitude for our hospitality and quite appreciated the cooperations already conducted between Tongji and France. She also expressed strong wishes to carry out better Sino-Belgian cooperation by reference to the accumulative experience and the existent Sino-French pattern. Secretary Zhou shared the same thoughts and even expressed intention of establishing trilateral cooperation among China, France and Belgium.

The retinue consisted of delegates of Belgian High Schools, to name some, Mr. Bernard Coulie, president of Catholic University of Louvain, Ms. Véronique Halloin, vice president of Belgian University of Freedom and Mr. Pierre Flahaut, board chair and president of Belgian Advanced College of Business. At preset, the cooperations and interflows with the three institutes are right in process.
