On November 9th, the inauguration ceremony of Tongji AMD Technology Center sponsored by American Advanced Micro Devices Co.,Ltd, China (AMD, China) was celebrated in the International Convention Center of Jiading Campus. Meanwhile, the 1stTongji AMD Scholarship Awarding was held then and then. Ms. Ma Jinming, associate Party Chief of CPC of Tongji Committee, Dr. Yang Wenge, inspector general of Corporative Development Dept. of AMD together inaugurated Tongji AMD Center and delivered speeches respectively. Ten excellent students were awarded the Scholarship. Later, AMD held a campus recruitment open to all the students of Jiading campus.
Tongji AMD Technology Center is set in the School of Software Engineering (SSE). It is a mile stone for SSE on its cooperation with enterprises. The Center will carry out a series of researching and teaching activities concerning programming, software developing, optimizing and visualizing and data management with the focus on AMD64 CPU computer of high performance. Besides, the Center and AMD will be together devoted to the development of computer of high performance, software transplant and performance optimization. They are ambitious to build the Center through concerted efforts into a paragon laboratory in the eastern China area. AMD will offer 400,000 CNY every year to fund the Center, of which 50,000 will be the Scholarship for undergraduates or graduates of excellent academic performance and good morality, especially those with innovative aptitude for IT.
