On November 18th, president Wan Gang together with vice president Zhou Zuyi came all the way to Hangzhou to call on a famous alumnus of Tongji —— Qiao Shi, who retired from stuff of Standing Committee of Central Political Bureau of CPC, chief of stuff of the Standing Committee of National People's Congress.
President Wan told Mr. Qiao of Tongji's recent disciplinary development, contributions to the national socio-economic progress and future planning and sincerely expected him to come back to Tongji at his convenience in the future. Vice president Zhou described to him the under-going preparation of Tongji Centenary Celebration and cordially invited him to be the director of the Counselor Commission for the pageantry. Mr. Qiao took the invitation with pleasure and wished Tongji to achieve greater progress by the inspiration and encouragement of the Centenary Celebration.
From 1946 to 1949, Mr. Qiao Shi served as the general secretary of Undercover Communist Party of China. He rendered a dedication for Tongji at its 90thAnniversary Celebration. In 1999, he paid an inspection visit to Tongji.
