On the afternoon of November 30th, twelve teachers from ten colleges of Tongji (Civil Engineering, Mechanics, Material Engineering and so on) were rendered with "red diplomas"–assigned by the vice president of Tongji Mr. Yang Dongyuan to be the first "Envoys of Science."
The program of "Envoys of Science" was newly activated to foster the scientific cooperation with enterprises. Meanwhile, Tongji also set up special funds to encourage teachers to apply to this program voluntarily.
With careful selection, 12 teachers of different disciplinary backgrounds stand out to be the "Envoys of Science" in 2007. They will be dispatched on behalf of Tongji to Wunan, Guizhou, Shandong and some other eight provinces where they will distribute Tongji's research fruition and edging technologies on one hand and on the other hand, they will survey the market and collect information of technical demand, in quest for opportunities of cooperation with the local enterprises.
