On Dec.5th, Tonji French Day – Experiencing Rhône-Alpes was celebrated in Sino-French. Vice president Zhou Zuyi, Consul of Education of Consulate General of the Republic of France in Shanghai, Mrs. écile Comier and vice chair of Rhône-Alpes Region, Mr Roger Fougeres attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. 200 People in the educational, scientific and entrepreneurial cycles of Rhône-Alpes Region as well as students and teachers attended this activity hosted by president assistant Dong Qi.
In the opening speech, vice president Zhou reviewed the history of communication and reported on the fruits achieved by the joint efforts of Tongji and France especially Rhône-Alpes in educational and cultural interchanges. Mr. Zhou said that Tongji's Centennial Celebration next year would become a good opportunity for Tongji to further display its history-honored glamour of integrity and its long-accumulated powers, and that Tongji would devote itself to the trend of international collaboration for the goal of building itself a world-renown university. Tongji planned to expand the cooperation with in education and scientific research in the and this visit by the French friends of Rhône-Alpes would certainly serve as a foundation to create a budding atmosphere. Later, Consul Comier, and vice president Fougeres delivered respective speeches, speaking highly of the cooperation and appreciating the contribution of Tongji to enhance the friendship between the two parties. Two presidents of the University Union of Rhône-Alpes, Mr. Claude Jameux and Mr. Alain Storck made introduction of the tertiary education of Rhône-Alpes and extended welcomes to Chinese students.
Tongji French Day also included academic reports, coffee degustation, French education exhibition and music magic shows.
Before the opening ceremony of French Day, vice president Zhou held a reception for the French guests.
