Co-organized by China National P.E League and our university, 1st Asian Male undergraduates Football Championship was held in Yi Er Jiu Hall of our school.
General Secretary of Asian Undergraduates P.E League Guanhua Zhou, Minister Assistant of Education Ministry Jialun Zhou, Principal Gang Wan, Vice-principal Yongsheng Li, Vice-secretary of Party Committee, Vice-principal Jianfu Zhao and so on attended the opening ceremony. Gang Wan and Guanhua Zhou both addressed the game. Xiangyuan Guo announced the opening of the game.
Asian Male Undergraduates Football Game was initiated and organized by Asian Undergraduates P.E League. 9 teams from the mainland of China, Hongkong, Macao, Taiwan and Korea, Mongolia, Thailand, Vietnam, Iran and other countries joined the game.
In October, 2005, our school asked China National P.E Association for co-organizing 1st Asian Male Undergraduates Football Championship during Tongji 100th anniversary celebration. In April, 2006, our school presented the formal application to Education Ministry and China National P.E Association. Approved by the Education Ministry, 1st Asian Male Undergraduates Football Championship became one of the main activities of our 100th anniversary. November, 2006 formulated the competition rules. In the middle of March, our school specially set up the preparation and organization committee.
Lasted for 7 days, after 18 matches, in the final match, the Chinese team composed by our school footballers beat the Iran team at 2:1 and won the championship, which is a valuable present for our school’s 100th anniversary. The Iran team won the second place and Korean team the third.
