May 19th established the Tongji Board of Directors. Minister of Science & technology, principal Gang Wan issued the papers for employment to 47 board members. The board elected Jialun Zhou, the chairman of the school committee, as the chairman of the board, and Jianfu Zhao, the vice-principal as the secretary-general.
The establishment of the Directors Board is a special bounteous gift for Tongji’s centennial, mentioned by Gang Wan in his lecture, and we believe that with the support of the board members, the development and construction of Tongji will open a new page.
Directors Board of Tongji prepared for the establishment since October, 2006. The preparation includes the drafting of the “Tongji Directors Board Regulations” and the electing the chairman and secretary-general. Tongji chose the board member from those who have always been supporting. Asking for advises from some ministry, agreed by the principal office, and finally issued the invitation letter by the principal. The board members include 7 people from the field of education of science & technology, 5 from foreign politics and 35 from the economics field at home and abroad.
The Directors Board will, according to the Regulations, further perfect the organization of the board and arouse the enthusiasm of the board members to achieve the aims of the board and to assure that the work goes well.
