In the morning of July 17th, after they finished their trip to Beijing and Henan Province, the first German Youth delegation visited Tongji University, one of the stations in the large scale international communication of Sino-Germany young people. The delegation is composed of the officials of youth organizations from German federal government and states.


During Premier Wen’s visit to Germany in September, 2006, he invited 400 German young people to China to get a better understanding of Chinese young generation and thus promoted friendship between two parties. The first youth delegation visited China july 10th to 17th, 2007.



The Vice Party Secretary of Tongji Univeristy Prof. Ma Jinming and the Director of International Cooperation Department of German youth and head of the delegation Uwe Finke―Timpe delivered a speech respectively and exchanged gifts.
Afterwards, Prof. Li Zhenyu from CAUP and Prof. Ma Jun from School of Automobile gave speeches named “Five Focuses on the way of Shanghai City Development” and “the Development of t Automobile and New Energy”. Based on the lectures, German young visitors had a hot discussion on China city construction, the planning of Expo areas and development of China new fuel automobiles with two professors.
Accompanied by more than 30 volunteers from Chinese-German School, German Department and Chinese-German Engineering School, the German youth delegation visited Wenyuan Building, the gallery of historical development of Tongji, the Students Hall and the energy-saving program in shower building. “The active international communication, the fluent German language spoken by students and teachers, as well as the advanced equipment in Tongji has left me a very deep impression.” Michael Pahl, the head of cross-cultural program of AFS, said.
