From September 4 to 7, State Councilor Chen Zhili leading a delegation went to Moscow to attend educational series of activities of “the Year of China”--- Exhibition of China’s Higher Education, President Forum of Chinese and Russian Leading Universities and the Fifth China-Russia College Art Festival. Secretary Zhou Jialun attended those activities with relative personnel of our university.
On September 5 and 6, Exhibition of China’s Higher Education, as one of educational series of activities of “the Year of China”, was held in All-Russia Exhibition Centre in Moscow, which attracted more than 60 China’s universities, including Tongji University whose exhibition’s position was arresting because it was located in the first stage. Secretary Zhou Jialun leading Tongji University delegation attended this education exhibition and displayed for Russian people the accomplishments of our university achieved in the process of international education and scientific research cooperation.
After the opening ceremony of the Exhibition of China’s Higher Education, state councilor Chen Zhili accompanied by Zhou Ji, minister of Ministry of Education, and Cao Guoxing, chief of International Communication and Cooperation Department, saw the exhibition desk of Tongji University in spirits. She highly appraised our work in international communication and hoped that Tongji University would carry forward the fine traditions and strive to create a new situation while she conversed with Secretary Zhou Jialun.
The subject of President Forum of Chinese and Russian Leading Universities, as an important item in educational domain of “the Year of China” in Russia, was “Cultivation Pattern of High-level Talents and Construction of Innovation-oriented Universities”. On this forum, Secretary Zhou Jialun delivered a keynote speech titled “The Quality of Innovation Education and Higher Education” in which he expounded his substance from three aspects: innovation education and improvement of higher education quality being a pressing demand of economic and social development, innovation education and higher education quality being a public concern, perfecting the idea of innovation education on the basis of student-foremost principle. Then, he took Tongji University as an example to substantiate his speech, which found an echo among Chinese presidents as well as Russian presidents.

In the process of attending series of activities of “the Year of China” in Russia, Secretary Zhou Jialun presented himself on the opening ceremony of China-Russia College Art Festival and met President Sadovnichii of Moscow University and other celebrities, and he also visited Moscow University and Moscow State University of Land Planning.
