On Oct. 24th, Prof. Zheng Shiling from CAUP of Tongji University, academician of CAS, was conferred honorary Doctor Degree of University of Rome. The conferring ceremony was held in conference hall of University of Rome, and he is the first Chinese scholar who was awarded the Degree.
Two days later, Prof. Zheng Shiling gave a lecture in the Architecture School of University of Rome.
Prof. Zheng Shiling presented as a visiting scholar in Florence University in 1980s. When he returned to China, he devoted many efforts to the exchange and communication between Italy and China, which contribute a lot to the friendship between two countries. In 2007, he was awarded Star Knight Medal, and the conferred Degree is a reaffirmation of his academic status and the contribution he made to the cultural exchange and communication between China and Italy.
Prof. Zheng Shiling was awarded academician of French Academy of Architecture in 1998, and was elected the honorary member of the American Institute of Architects in 2002.
