The 2ndSymposium on Experimental Structural Engineering was held in Tongji University from Dec.4thto 6th. The conference was attended by more than 100 representatives, of which more than 30 were from abroad.
On the morning of Dec.4th, the opening ceremony was held in the International Conference Hall in Multi-functional Building. Prof. Li Yongsheng, Executive vice president of the University，Yoshito Itoh, Chairman of the Japanese Scientific Committee, and Prof. Lu Xilin, the deputy director of Tongji University State Key Laboratory of Disaster Prevention in Civil Engineering and Chairman of this Conference addressed at the opening ceremony.
The meeting was aimed at displaying the latest developments and achievements as well as offering an opportunity for the participants to explore the future development direction in the field of Experimental Structural Engineering.
Topics for discussion in the meeting cover many aspects of the latest research progress at home and abroad, such as Technology of experiment and testing, Technology of computer-controlled experiment as well as the Technology of mixing experiment. Delegates will extensively exchange and explore a series of subjects in the three-day conference such as the materials, experiments of components & structure and new testing technology, computer-controlled experiment , the technology of mixing experiment, model size effect, similar principle, testing procedures and standards, evaluation of testing results and application to the workplace, experimental databases and information systems, teaching experiment and other relevant experiments, testing and monitoring technology etc.
