As one of the activities of “Sino-European Science and Technology Year”, the “Sino-European Forum on Scientific Cooperation and Development Strategy” co-hosted by China Science and Technology Management Institution of Tongji University and DEMOS was held in Sino-French Center on Feb. 1st.
On the Forum which was hosted by Prof. Yang Dongyuan, Vice President of the University, Mr. Wu Zhongze, member of Party Group of Ministry of Science and Technology and Leader of Discipline Inspection Group gave a keynote speech entitled “To Build a Innovation-Oriented Nation: the Choice of China”. Prof. Pei Gang, the President of Tongji University, Li Yiping, the Director of Shanghai Science and Technology Committee addressed the opening ceremony. Other attendants included officials from Ministry of Science and Technology, EU Research Division, Shanghai Science and Technology Committee and experts or academicians from prestigious universities or research institutes world wide.
The cooperation in the field of science and technology has been implemented between European countries and China in the past years. To promote deeper exchange and cooperation, the two parties should explore more substantive cooperation in four fields: To improve the leader’s exchange and coordinating system in innovation; to carry out cooperation on substance in the fields that both parties are interested in, such as clean energy, resource, environment, energy-saving and emission reduction, sanitary, agriculture, global warming, disaster-reduction and resistance, etc.; to enhance the exchange and cooperation in innovation policy and management; to establish more close relationship between universities, laboratories and enterprises.
Other keynote speeches were given by Yang Qiquan, the Vice Dean of Research Institute of China Science and Technology Development Strategy, Xing Jijun, the Director of International Cooperation Division, Mr. David Concar, the Science and Technology Counselor of Great Britain Embassy in China, Mr. Eric Van Kooij, the Science and Technology Counselor of Holland Embassy in China, touching upon the topics like science and technology management and innovation strategy, the opportunity and challenges China faced in brand new world structure of science and technology, the prospect of Sino-Europe cooperation of science and technology, etc.
