Prof. Zhang Xiangxian of Chenggong University (Tainan City), Alumnus of Tongji University passed away at the age of 107 in Hospital of Chenggong University on March 3rd.
Mr. Zhang graduated from Department of Mechanics of Tongji University in 1929. After getting his PhD’s Degree at Aviation Engineering Academe of University of Turin in Italy, he returned and taught at the alma mater in 1941.He has assumed the dean of Department of Mechanics in our university, and then taught at Chenggong University after went to Taiwan in 1948.
With deep affection towards the alma mater, Mr. Zhang always called on the visiting teachers and students from Tongji University at Chenggong University. At Tongji University’s centennial celebration, he sent his wishes through video.
Prof. Zhou Jialun, the Chairman of University Council and Prof. Pei Gang, President of the University have sent telegrams to President of Chenggong University to convey profound condolences and extend heartfelt regards to his relatives representing all the school members and alumni at home and abroad.
