Young Teacher Zhang Tao of Tongji Awarded German Chancellor Scholarship

Recently, after the selection of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, young teacher Zhang Tao from Intellectual Property College of Tongji University was awarded the German Chancellor Scholarship of 2008-2009. He would go to Germany visiting and studying for one year at the end of May and do academic research at Munich Max-Planck Institute of Intellectual Property Law, Competition Law and Tax Law.

Currently, German Chancellor Scholarship was only opened to US (1991), Russia (2001) and China (2006), aimed at cultivating prospective leading talents in various fields from these countries and providing them opportunities to independently selecting a study and research program in Germany. Oriented for people under 35 years old in various academic fields, this scholarship was awarded to at most 10 applicants every year and taking liberal arts disciplines such as humanities, social science, law, economics, etc into first consideration. It was known that the scholarship winners would be received by German President and German Premier besides carrying on their own scientific research.
