Recently a Sino-American Trauma Emergency Treatment Practicing was held in Affiliated Eastern Hospital. This was a Sino-American Trauma Emergency Treatment Practicing firstly held in Pudong New District.
On the morning of April 9th, a “serious traffic accident” happened on Dongyuan Road of Lujiazui District, Pudong New District. Two Buses crashed causing many people “injured”. Answering the phone call asking for help, the rescuing group sent immediately two ambulances with doctors and first aid equipments. After simple field treatment, the wounded were sent to Eastern Hospital for further cure. Informed by 120, Eastern Hospital started emergency medical service and emptied the emergency rooms and rescuing beds. The medical staff have prepared for the work. As soon as the patients were coming, the multi-to-one solution was started. Measures were taken to stop the massive haemorrhage, keep the airway unblocked, etc. the medical treatments were conducted orderly. “Traffic in China was really busy, and Chinese medical staff did a good job!” 14 experts from AmericanPartner for Lifeemergency medicine expert panel smiled with satisfaction.
The coming Olympics and World Expo demanded the rapid emergency medical treatments of the comprehensive hospitals. In these years Eastern Hospital has made great progress in medical emergency capability and has established close cooperation with international emergency rescuing units. This time AmericanPartner for Lifeemergency medicine expert panel proposed to organize this first aid practicing. They discussed and exchanged ideas on rescuing procedures. Then other practicing activities were held as curing of thoracic injuries, spinal cord injuries and abdominal injuries; training of tracheal intubations and English medical records writing; and communication of trauma nursing in American operating rooms and new concept of nursing responsibilities.
