Sino-Italian College Met Italian Enterprises

On April 11th, representatives of more than 40 Italian enterprises met the teachers and students of Sino-Italian College in the Multi-use Building. They discussed the prospect of university-enterprise cooperation. This exchange meeting was jointly held by Sino-Italian College, Italian Trade Commission, Italian Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Italian Cultural Office. Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai, main cooperative partners of Sino-Italian College——Politecnico di Milano and Turin Polytechnic University also participated the organizing of this activity.

During the exchange meeting, Mr. Forte, chief representative of Shanghai Italian Trade Commission, Mr. Leopaldi, representative of Italian Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Prof. Naldi, Vice-President of International Relations of Turin Polytechnic University, Prof. Casacchia, cooperation commissioner of Italian Cultural Office International University and Prof. Li Guoqiang, Vice-president of Tongji University addressed at the meeting.

In their oration, they said that Sino-Italian College of Tongji University was the first cooperative project on high education between China and Italy. After its foundation, the cooperation between the two parties was active and developed prosperously. They hoped these Italian enterprises would establish long-term cooperation with Sino-Italian College on employment education, scientific research and development and transformation of technological achievements through providing scholarships, sci-tech consultation, projects research commission and investing the laboratory construction, etc so as to promote sustainable prosperous development of Sino-Italian College.

Comau Company of FIAT introduced the beneficial aspect in cooperation with universities as the representative of Italian enterprises in Shanghai. Students’ representative made speech at the meeting.

In 2006 and 2007, together with Politecnico di Milano and Turin Polytechnic University, Tongji University recruited 160 undergraduate students majoring in mechanical engineering and information technical engineering. This year we planned to recruit 100 students including 20 students first recruited for the major of automatic engineering jointly set by Tongji University and University of Bologna. TheIndustrial Designpostgraduate project started by the three universities will welcome their first group of students in this September. 40 undergraduate students from Politecnico di Milano and Turin Polytechnic University will come to study in our university this September.
