Recently,BrusselsARCHITopia2 Forum——Chinese NewArchitecture Firms’ Design Exhibitionwas held in Centre International pour la Ville et l’Architecture (CIVA) in Brussels, the capital of Belgium. This forum was jointly sponsored by College of Architecture and Urban Planning of Tongji University, Brussels-Export, and CIVA. The opening ceremony, which attracted more than 300 domestic and foreign experts in the field of Architecture and Urban Planning and nearly 18 media home and abroad had extensive influence. Xue Huanbai, Counselor for Education and Xia Wanfa, cultural Counselor of Chinese embassy in Belgium attended the ceremony. Later, Education Department of Chinese embassy in Belgium invited architects of China and Belgium attending this forum to dinner.
This activity began with an entirely new sort of exhibition. The representatives of architects and planners from 10 Chinese influential architecture and urban planning design offices (including Atelier Deshaus, Datrans, Standard Architecture, One Design Inc, Scenic Architecture Inc, Hou Liang Architecture, Miao Pu Architecture, Shanghai Tongji Urban Planning and Design Institute etc.) attended the press conference of the activity. These participating works of the exhibition reflected our national vitality, ideas and characteristics of modern age, economy and academy. During the activity, the dialogue between Chinese and Belgian new architects was carried on aboutARCHITopiaand explored the common problems of architectural design and urban planning industry in the globalization background. Prof. Zhi Wenjun, the chief editor ofTime Architecture——the celebrated China architectural academic journal made detailed introduction and comment on the Chinese contemporary architects’ participating works and developing situations. His speech greatly impressed the present guests and media.
As one of our university’s Centennial Anniversary celebration activities, ARCHITopia 1 Forum——Belgian New Architecture Firms’ Design Exhibition was held in Sino-French Center of our university in March, 2007.
