On the morning of May 7th, Prof. Wu Qidi, the former president of Tongji University and former vice minister of education in China met the visiting delegation of American United Technologies Corporation in the Yifu Building. The delegation consisted of 3 persons including Dr. Robert Hobbs, director of UTC research center.
During the meeting, Wu Qidi reviewed the cooperative course between UTC and Tongji in the past decade and pointed out the cooperation was long-term and effective. Mr. Hobbs expressed his great thanks and introduced the basic situation of UTC research center. The cooperation between Tongji and UTC dated from the 90’s of 20thC. UTC research center in China was found in Tongji at the beginning period. In the last decade, the cooperation between the two parties has expanded to many fields including telecommunication, machinery, and automobile, etc. through this visiting, he hoped to develop comprehensive cooperative research with National Fuel Cell Automobile and Power System Engineering Technology Research Center of our university on the service life, stability and potential pollution of fuel cell taking advantage of UTC’s strength in the field of fuel cell.
Besides, UTC was devoting to establish a cross-discipline research center among the universities so as to centralize the discipline advantage of each university. This center would do research on the hot subjects worldwide such as powers, resources, sustainable development, etc. Wu Qidi expressed appreciation for endeavor UTC made on research, promoting the cooperation between the universities and enterprises and combining the production with education and research. Our university would definitely provide the center with necessary support.
After the meeting, the delegation visited the auditorium, students’ bathroom and other Resource-Efficient Campus building projects.
