Big Band of Swiss ETH Zurich Performed in Tongji

Recently, the Big Band from Swiss ETH Zurich held a jazz concert in our university, which attracted lots of teachers and students. Big Band conquered the audience by skilled performance, abundant music forms and friendly communication in more than one hour. The audience not only enjoyed the music but also experienced the sincerity and friendliness of this Northern European university.

ETH Big Band mainly consisted of students, but also included some old members who have graduated from the university. 20 youngsters combined woodwind instruments, brass instruments, percussion instruments, plucked string instruments, and claviers according to the different music styles. They played all kinds of jazz music either in the form of solo or tutti and made the every audience appreciate the beauty of music. Besides, at the intervals of performance, the conductor of the band communicated with our teachers and students in English and German. He not only introduced the dynamic Big Band but also described the beautiful scenery of Zurich. He expressed his ardent love for China and invited our students to visit and study in Switzerland. This performance achieved great success. In the limited time, teachers and students from the two universities transmitted infinite friendship with music as a communicating language.
