On the afternoon of May 15th, the University Vice-president Zhao Jianfu met Dr. William M. Straus, member of Massachusetts State House of Representatives at Yifu Building. During the meeting, Zhao Jianfu expressed welcome to him on behalf of the University firstly, and then introduced the basic situation and strong discipline. Zhao Jianfu said that our university attached great importance to the construction and development of liberal arts as well as developing cooperation with US institutions and universities. Mr. Straus highly praised the achievements Tongji obtained in university development and talents cultivation in the past century. He also expressed his desire to promote cooperation between our university and universities and research institutions of Massachusetts in the fields of environmental engineering, marine research, humanistic study, etc.
After the meeting, Dr. Straus gave a lecture namedUS Presidential Election and American Politicsfor teachers and students in our university.
