Share the personal experience behind the great scientific discovery, and encourage Tongji Students to explore the secrets of science. On the morning of May 19th, with a full house attendance at the 129 Auditorium, Prof. Yang Zhenning, the famous theoretical physicist and Nobel Prize winner in physics gave a lecture at Tongji Forum. He related the background and finding process of the distinguished achievement——Non Conservation of Paritytheory with which he won Nobel Prize in physics in 1957 with Prof. Li Zhengdao as well as Prof. Wu Jianxiong’s important experiments which provided verification for this theory.
During the 80 minutes, Prof. Yang gave the lecture in a loud voice and fluent language with a smile on his face. After the lecture, Prof. Yang answered the students’ questions. He put out his opinions on characteristics of Chinese education and American’s, Chinese university education and some other topics.
Mr. Yang Wuzhi, father of Prof. Yang, taught at Tongji College of Science in the early 1950s. At the end of the lecture, President Pei Gang presented a pedigree book recording Prof. Yang Wuzhi’s life and working when he taught in Tongji as a gift to Prof Yang Zhenning. He was pleasantly surprised. He said it was a incomparable precious and meaningful gift for him.
