This year, altogether 8917 students in all levels graduated from Tongji University and became fresh troops for the country’s construction. On the morning of June 20th, the 2008 graduation commencement was held in the great assembly hall of Siping Road Campus to send off the graduated students who would go to different places of China.
The University leaders Zhou Jialun, Pei Gang, Chen Xiaolong, Lu Minxun, Ma Jinming, Jiang Fuming and Zheng Huiqiang, etc. attended the commencement. The representatives of graduated doctors, masters and bachelors in academic costumes received the graduation certificates and diplomas from the leaders on the platform.
Among the graduates this year, 261 students were honored asExcellent Graduates of Shanghaiand 268 students were awarded asExcellent Graduates of Tongji University. During the commencement, Ma Jinming read the list of the excellent graduates and the representatives received the certificates of honors on the platform.
Another aid education team of Tongji graduate students and university students volunteers service group in the western region would set off soon. They would go to the central and western regions and participate in the education and medical service there for one year. Tongji students cares about the disaster area. Not long ago, after careful consideration, more than 50 graduates decided to work in the disaster area and devote themselves to the reconstruction of the local place.
