The University Vice-President Yang Dongyuan Visited Japan

The University Vice-President Yang Dongyuan made a one-week visiting in Japan upon the invitation of Iwate PrefecturalUniversityat the end of June.

During the visiting, Yang Dongyuan called on Prof. Aoki Tamotsu, Commissioner of Japanese Ministry ofCulture andConsultingProfessorofAsia-Pacific Research Center, Tongji. Mr. Aoki Tamotsu maintained academic exchange with Tongji University and proposed repeatedly to reinforce cooperation with our university when he was in charge of the cultural work. Yang Dongyuan and Mr. Aoki Tamotsu reached an agreement on how to reinforce the cultural and educational exchange between the university students of the two countries. Mr. Aoki Tamotsu appreciated that he University valued the exchange with Germany as well as with Japan. He hoped the University would play a leading role in Sino-Japanese juniors’ cultural and educational activities. Yang Dongyuan expressed his thanks towards Mr. Aoki Tamotsu for his concern about Tongji and our determination to promote our work.

During Yang’s visiting, he attended the Iwate PrefecturalUniversity Anniversary and addressed on the commemoration.Makoto Taniguchi, the President of Iwate PrefecturalUniversity, JapanAmbassador to the United Nations and ConsultingProfessorofAsia-Pacific Research Center, Tongji has visited Tongji many times to attend the international conferences. Iwate PrefecturalUniversityestablishedbenign relationship of exchanges and cooperation withCollegeof International Cultural Exchanges andAsia-Pacific Research Center of Tongji University.

Accompanied by Prof. Cai Jianguo, dean ofCollegeof International Cultural Exchange and director ofAsia-Pacific Research Center, Yang Dongyuan also called on Toyoshi Satow, President of ObirinUniversity ND dean of Confucius Institute and attended the preparatory meeting for Tongji’s teaching school at Osaka.
