On July 10th, closing ceremony of ABT-S project was held in Sino-GermanCollege, Tongji University.Zhou Jialun, Chairman of the University Council, Peter K reutzberger, Deputy Consul General of German Consulate-General in Shanghai, Dong Qing from Department of International Relations and Economic Affairs,Ministryof Commerce, China and Immanuel Gebhardt, Manager of East Asia, South Asia and Pacific, GTZ attended the ceremony as honored guests.

ABT-S project was brought into Governments' CooperationAgreements signed by premiers of China and Germany as premiers’ proposal in 1993. In November 1996,Chinese and Germangovernments signed the agreement ofABT-S project and this project was officially started in July 1997.
During the ceremony, Zhou Gengfu, Dean of VocationalCollege,Di Haide, long term expert of ABT-S project made reports abut the development and completion of this project. CERTQUA, the Germany accrediting agency for quality assurance of vocational education issued an EN and a DIN quality authentication certificates. On the basis of 11-year’s cooperation with GTZ in the first 3 periods, VocationalCollegegathered and formed a professional teachers team with the doctors from Germany as the main body, and established integral organization structure of college. Rich experience in teachers training and scientific research established the status for the college in the field of Chinese vocational education. Having passed theCERTQUAinternational accreditation marked further specification of management, teaching and research and was a test for the 11-year’s outcome.
As early as the University centennial celebration, when GermanPresidentHorst Koehler visited the University, Tongji signed a new cooperative memorandum with GTZ, planning the cooperative methods after the ABT-S project in 2008. According to the memorandum, in the next 3 years, the two parties will increase cooperation in the fields of high-level scientific research and retraining with all the achievements as a cornerstone, and spread the achievements to Southeast Asia and peripheral countries.
