On July 7th, the University Vice-President Li Guoqiang met the delegation ofUniversityfor foreigners Perugia led by the president Giannini. The two parties signed the cooperative memorandumafterdiscussion on inter-university cooperation and Italian language training.
Li Guoqiang welcomed Giannini for his second visiting after his first one on September 2006 when he attended the opening ceremony of China-ItalyCollege. He introduced the achievements the University had obtained on cooperation with Italian universities, including the double degree projects withPolytechnicUniversityof Milan, Turin PolytechnicUniversity, Universityof Bologna andUniversityof Trento as well as other kinds of educational and scientific research cooperative projects.
Li Guoqiang expressed that Tongji was willing to cooperate withUniversityfor foreigners Perugia on language training for which their university was famous. Yu Xuemei, Dean of College for Foreign Language Training, Tongji discussed further details with Italian side on language training cooperation.
The Italian side was willing to start language training cooperation with Tongji in Shanghai including Italian language training course and Italian teachers training course. Besides, the two sides communicated on exchange and training of Italian teachers.
After the meeting, the universities leaders signed the inter-university cooperative memorandum. Principals and related teachers of College for Foreign Language Training and China-ItalyCollegealso attended the meeting.
