On October 23rd, the 1stChina’s international expo on circular economy (CIECE) of 2008 opened in Qingdao, the theme of which is “Develop circular economy and build a resource saving and environmentally-friendly society”. Tongji University (TU) as an expositor organized by Shanghai attended this expo, and, in addition, TU was the only one institution for higher learning at it.
The exhibition items of TU took up one third of the exposition district of more than 200 square meters. The big exhibition boards of TU, “TU’s Construction of Economical Campus”, and “New-energy Automobiles”, attracted many visitors and they took photos as a souvenir in succession. Audiences are quite interested in the new generation of fuel battery cars Passat Lingyu and Reverse Osmosis equipments, a protective architecture energy saving item (a model of auditorium which was students’ works of science and technology). And they inquired them frequently and CCTV also shot some on-the-spot pictures.
The 1stCIECE was jointly hosted by National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Environmental Protection, Ministry of Housing and Urban-rural development, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Commerce and Shandong Province Government, Qingdao City Government.
